When people separate, one of the key arrangements they need to agree on is the ongoing care of the children and the contact the children have with each parent. Family Lawyer Shaun Cousins is holding a free webinar to discuss what options are available to people to resolve and formalise arrangements for children once separation occurs, paying particular attention to the recent changes to the Care of Children Act.

The goal is to provide information and an overview about the options available to parents before, during and after Court proceedings occur, including:

  • What options to parents have to resolve disputes and formalise arrangements outside of Court?

  • How effective are verbal and informally written agreements and how can these be strengthened?

  • What options are available to parents if the relationship ends in violence?

  • Safety issues for children in the care of a parent and how these can be managed;

  • What is Family Dispute Resolution and how can this help me? Is this still necessary in light of the recent law changes?

  • What does the Court need to consider when a Parenting Order is made?

  • When does a Parenting Order need to be varied and how is this done?

  • What has now changed after 1 July 2020 in terms of Court proceedings involving parenting issues?

There will also be a forum to answer any questions you might have about these issues and how you can ensure the child(ren)’s best interests and welfare are met after a separation.
